Genetics and Behaviour: from the science to society

Call for papers and first announcement:

A one day workshop organised by the Postgraduate Forum in Genetics and Society (PFGS)

Location: Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS), Lancaster University

Date: Monday 19th April 2010 10:30 – 16:00

The PFGS invites postgraduate submissions for its Spring Regional Meeting, to be held at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS), Lancaster University. The day-long workshop aims to be a participative and useful event for post-graduates, with an equal mix of presentations and discussion.

Papers so far include:

Behavioural Genetics: New Science, Old Values? (Andy Divers, Lancaster University)

Behavioural genomics: one discipline or many? (Richard Holdsworth, ESRC Centre for Genomics in Society (Egenis) at the University of Exeter)

Governing the constructs of life: Mapping social and technology appraisal of emerging biomedical technologies? (Molly Morgan, University of Sussex)

We welcome submissions from UK postgraduates with a research interest in any area of genetics, genomics or the life-sciences which may impact on the meeting topic.

Whilst conference registration is free, limited places are available. Travel reimbursement within the UK is available for all participants. To register for attendance, or to submit a paper (Abstracts of no more than 250 words) contact: pfgsmtgs@gmail.com
